While the North of Vietnam has spectacular mountains and steep slopes, the South of Vietnam has the tranquil and rustic beauty of large fields, soothing green rivers, friendly people, and lush tropical fruit orchards. Here are four off-road South Vietnam Maps with routes to let you thoroughly discover South Vietnam if you are planning a South Vietnam Motorcycle tour there.
Southern Vietnam features a relatively flat geography, dominated by alluvial plains fed by the Mekong and Dong Nai rivers. This region is separated into the Southeast and the Mekong Delta. The South West borders the Gulf of Thailand, the East borders the East Sea, and the North borders Cambodia, the Central Highlands, and the South Central Coast. Because it is home to several significant and vital economic regions of Vietnam, South Vietnam’s population accounts for around 30% of the country’s population.
Southern Vietnam has a humid tropical climate, consisting of two main seasons, the dry and rainy seasons, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. The most suitable time to travel in this area is from November to April next year when it enters the dry season, the temperature is cool and chilly the whole day – making it an ideal time for long-distance driving. In addition, this area is also home to many heroic historical relics and unique ancient civilizations. All create an idyllic and colorful picture of Vietnam’s southern life attracting thousands of domestic and foreign tourists annually.
Off-road South Vietnam Maps is a helpful resource for exploring these exciting destinations. Ho Chi Minh City is one of the must-see locations when it comes to well-known tourist spots in the South. Although it is the most significant economic and cultural center in Vietnam with many bustling urban areas, Ho Chi Minh City still retains the ancient architecture of the French colonial period along with many famous landmarks, which are essential in the history of Vietnam, such as Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Cu Chi Tunnels,…
A popular seaside destination in the south is Mui Ne Phan Thiet, which has lovely white dunes on two sides of its shoreline, as well as the Con Dao Island – Vung Tau, Phu Quoc Island – Kien Giang, which has fantastic beaches, untamed and charming natural landscape. Equally appealing is the Mekong Delta’s potential for ecotourism. Being a vast plain connected to river life, boating is a very common type of tourist activity in this area.
An image of an idyllic, pleasant, and fantastic trip for visitors has been painted by the diversity of tropical fruit orchards that are interspersed between the interwoven system of canals, islands, and melaleuca forests. Cai Rang Floating Market, Ninh Kieu Wharf, and Tra Su Melaleuca Forest are some important locations that can demonstrate the culture and way of life of the southern locals.
Route: Saigon – Chau Doc – Can Tho – Ben Tre – Vung Tau – Mui Ne – Saigon
This is one of the easiest roads to take, the tour length is moderate but still brings the most profound and authentic experiences for visitors when coming to the West River. In addition, this loop also includes some beautiful sea routes of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Mui Ne – Phan Thiet, and Off-road South Vietnam Maps. Therefore, this is one of the most suitable roads for those who are just starting to travel by motorbike.
Starting in Ho Chi Minh City, visitors will drive to Chau Doc, Can Tho, and Ben Tre – 3 provinces representing the river route. This stretch of road is relatively easy to go because of the flat terrain, but there are a few sections where visitors need to travel by ferry to cross the river.
Visit Chau Giang Cham Village, of Chau Doc; Explore the Cai Rang Floating Market of Can Tho, or participate in ecotourism activities such as boating, and fishing in Ben Tre is one of the many outstanding activities for visitors. From Ben Tre, visitors will continue to move to Vung Tau – the famous coastal tourist city of the South before driving through the white dunes of Mui Ne – Phan Thiet and ending the journey in Saigon.
Route: Saigon – Ben Tre – Can Tho – Chau Doc – Ben Tre – Vung Tau – Mui Ne – Da Lat – Buon Me Thuot – Kon Tum – Hoi An
This is a lengthier Vietnam motorcycle tour with a higher degree of difficulty and a somewhat longer itinerary than the previously described 6-day tour. Visitors will travel via several off-road routes that cross through the western provinces of Can Tho, Chau Doc, and Ben Tre after departing from Saigon. From there, we will travel over scenic coastal roads to the coastal towns of Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, which are both reasonably level and straightforward routes. Travelers continue on riding from Phan Thiet for another 160 km to Da Lat, then carry on to the Central Highlands provinces of Buon Ma Thuot and Kon Tum before arriving at Hoi An. Off-road South Vietnam Maps is a valuable resource for navigating this adventurous journey.
This motorbike journey covers the Mekong Delta regions, southern coastal towns, and highland areas in central Vietnam with a distance of over 2000 kilometers. Visitors who take this route can go down various side roads, including the Ho Chi Minh Trail, a famous route used during the Vietnam War. This loop is likely to provide fantastic driving experiences to anybody with its reasonably cool weather, largely high mountain terrain, stunning natural beauty, rolling hills, and very little traffic. But because the temperature here drops quite rapidly in the early morning and the evening, it is important to dress warmly and pay attention to safe driving when conquering repeated winding passes.
Route: Hochiminh City – Cu Chi – Ho Coc Beach – Mui Ne – Da Lat – Hochiminh City
This five-day motorcycle tour departing from Saigon will take you over some of the region’s most difficult backroads, passing by many of the region’s top historical and natural attractions. After encountering the hectic traffic of Saigon urban, you will visit the first stop, the Cu Chi Tunnels – a unique national historic monument of South Vietnam that has been recreated in the time of the resistance fight against the French. Exploring hidden and underground tunnels, or participating in shooting are indispensable activities when coming here. Off-road South Vietnam Maps is a valuable resource for navigating this adventurous journey.
From this spot, travelers will take a national roadway to Ho Coc Beach in the province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Contrary to the often busy ambiance of other beaches, Ho Coc Beach is home to individuals who value peacefulness or are searching for a place to unwind and recharge after lengthy trips. The natural condition here is ideal for planning picnics, camping, skydiving, surfing, and swimming. Moving on to Mui Ne, another stunning coastal city around 180 kilometers away, travelers will have time to relax by the lovely beach such as Bai Rang – one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam with straight coconut trees, clear blue sea water, and fresh air. Some other places that visitors can explore when coming here are Hon Rom, Suoi Tien, White Sand Dunes, Ke Ga Lighthouse, … – all of which are extremely unspoiled natural scenes.
Da Lat is the final destination before returning to the departure point. Located on the Lam Vien plateau with an altitude of 1500 m above sea level, Da Lat is an extremely cool resort, ideal for tourists to escape the heat of the Southern region. The road to this place will also lead visitors through many passes, consecutive slopes, and bends, especially the road about 10 km from Da Lat City. Therefore, visitors need to be highly focused when driving through these routes. In addition, we also need to pay attention to the fog that appears denser in the early morning or late evening.
Route: Sai Gon – Cai Be – Vinh Long – Can Tho – Cai Rang – Sai Gon – Lam Dong – Da Lat – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet – Sai Gon
This motorbike loop covers almost all prominent provinces in the Mekong Delta to the Central Highlands provinces and famous coastal cities in the southern region of Vietnam. Joining this tour, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the vast rice fields, bustling river markets, and peaceful villages of the Mekong Delta provinces. Admire the sacred religious beauty and ancient Roman architecture of Cai Be church – Tien Giang, participate in shopping at the Tra On floating market – Vinh Long, or experience unique cuisine at Cai Rang floating market – Can Tho are some interesting activities you can join when passing this route. Off-road South Vietnam Maps is a valuable resource for navigating this adventurous journey.
After completing the route through 3 provinces of the Mekong Delta, visitors will drive back to Saigon to go to Lam Dong and Da Lat. This well-known tourist spot will provide you with a glimpse of the Central Highland of Vietnam before experiencing a motorbike ride on one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Vietnam – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet. This is undoubtedly a motorbike tour you should not miss if you want to fully explore southern Vietnam. It offers a wide range of driving experiences from plains to high mountains, a wide variety of fun and entertainment activities, and an exploration of the culture and history of various parts of the country.
